I'm really interested in your Ibex hunt. Have you gotten any scouting done yet or been able to see any?
The elk license I drew this year is basically once in a lifetime as well but it sure is tough getting as much time as I would like. I've always hunted the same areas so real scouting wasn't needed until now. It takes me over 2 hours to get there and then learn where to start.
Still 76 days to 3rd season in Colorado. Seems like a long way off still but those are our tags and no other choice. Small game is not an option this year at least not before elk/deer season. At least next spring I will be bear hunting in Idaho so it will not be as long between hunts next year. Only 268 days to spring bear!
There are times when the deer are simply not moving and you're forced to make something happen. Maybe you're up against a full moon or hot weather. This is when a silent drive to force deer to move should be considered.
By silent drive, you're not yelling and making a commotion to scare the deer. When deer are panicked, they're liable to bust out of the cover on a dead run, and any shot you get will be tough to make.
