How to find a good spot for bear hunting?

Ive never got to try bear hunting before so im excited for this year. I found 1 foot print under some leaves yestereday but couldnt make out any more and i fed out 2 days ago but no sign of a bear. There are a total of 5 black bear down there now. How can i find a good spot for bear hunting? I dont know where is good and what bait it good. I just used some 2 jello packs n mixed in some water n threw it up the side of a tree and threw some brownies n 2 bags of pop corn out. I will try dog food next. So how can i find a good place to bear hunt?

First off you need to find

First off you need to find out if baiting is leagal in your state for the fall season.  There are a few out there that you can only bait in the spring and then only use archery gear to shoot a bear.

If you are seeing sign that is the first step, so did you actually see the 5 bears or are you just guessing on the numbers?  In the fall bears are feeding 23 hours a day getting ready to hibernate, unless you are in Florida so they will be moving a lot.  Look around ponds or streams where there is bare dirt where you can see the tracks.

For bait popcorn works good, lots and lots of it and not just a grocery sack of it but 30 gallon garbage bags full of it.  Also go down to your local bakery and see if they will give you or sell you their old pasteries, donuts, and whatever else they have that is sweet.  I'm not saying just one or two days worth but a couple of weeks worth.  Then place a good size pile in 3 or 4 different locations with a trail camera on each to tell what is coming into it.

Then by the time that you get all of this done you will be set and know a little bit more for next year when you can get real serrious about it.

I was afraid of that. It

I was afraid of that. It appears baiting is illegal in your state. I'm not sure you can even take one in one of the counties you mentioned, but I didn't get too involved with reading everything. I was checking baiting.
