How Far Can You Comfortably shoot.

I figure for me with my 30-06 I can shoot about 300 to 400 feet comfortably. Took me alot of years though but now I use watermelons from that range they work amazingly well with impact, usually blowing apart its great sometimes soup cans I like a good target I got tired of shooting actuall targets so I decided to try them next is pumpkins. Lots of good pits around my area with very long shots where do you usually target practice and how normally do you shoot.

Do you mean yds instead of feet? If I'm shooting non-living targets I'm comfortable out to 800 yds (as far as my land will allow for flat shot). On game, I try to keep it under 400 yds.

I comfortably shoot my old Browning Boss Heat out to 60yds, but wouldn't take a shot at game over 35 yds. I'm still working out the kinks on my newer Whisper Creek Stealth.

I always measure in steps which is about half a yard so about 250 to 300 at live game yrds I mean anything past that I dont even shoot I try to get the game as close as possible anyway. Targets I try to keep under 500 maybe I need a better scope because that x in the middle doesent look to big to me at 500 I think Ill keep using fruits maybe getting smaller everytime.

When hunting:
200 yds from a rest,
100 yds no rest but supported (sitting/kneeling)
50 yds off-hand.

I'll try any range with a target

....I use a 30-06 parker hale and have made sucessful kills up to 500 yrds i use a hairis bi-pod for long shots ,180 grain handloads with balistic tips very hard to find places to shoot further in the field here...i am a firm believer in one shot one deer

LOL Me too when I actually get to see one! I use a remington woodsmaster with 180 grain remington core lokt most of the time I have seen a few new types I wanna try but thier not around. I meant 350 yards but I couldnt fix it after someone posted 350 to 400 yrds at the most and I would be most comfortable.

I know man dont worry I do it alot too. Those targets seem small too you too at 300 or what with my age they seem to be getting worst but I still hit em.Went shooting this mornin with the .22 I bought one of the steel self setting target systems best 50 bucks I spent No more moving every five minutes but the only thing I didnt like was (no holes to tell me where Im hitting atleast I hear the ting) Probably still use the paper targets even though I bought it.
