Re: How 'bout some 09 Mule Deer Pics!!!

He grosses a little over 200, the bottom one grossed at 190 NO 189 5/8, but i never officially scored them. It's not my style of hunting even if they were a 140 class deer they would still be a trophy in my eyes. It's the thrill of the hunt to me. Thanks for the comment BleuBijou and if they ever open it up to Non Residents look me up.... Yes

Great pictures everybody Thumbs up Hey possum, Fantastic bucks, i noticed they dont have G1's , is that pretty normal in that area? That looks like that low rolling type country, is that ag land or foothill country?

Hoggetter, No G1's is normal for this area, i don't ever recall seeing a mule in this province with G1's of more than 1 1/2 to 2 inches.
The land i hunt is rolling grasslands and it has some very big hills and coulees, i hunt near Val Marie saskatchewan and east towards Wood Mountain Sk (Zone 2E). I always hunt the perimiter of the Grasslands National Park, lots of good ones in there and not too much hunting pressure, very few roads and trails and all privately owned land but permission is easy to obtain.
I see a lot of good mule deer pics in this site, i like the knarly ones with the sticker points.

Re: How 'bout some 09 Mule Deer Pics!!!

Here is a couple pics of my 2009 ND Public Land Muley, it takes a resident about 5 years to draw a tag. Because of this my son and I have started bow hunting them quite a bit, because I drew a gun tag this year I put in a little extra time scout during the bow season. My son was with me the first three days of the season and during that time I passed this buck up two times because we new of a bigger one but had yet to see him. I took my son home because he had school and went back the next day and spent four more days hunting. I again passed this buck up because I finally got to see the big dog, but could never close the gap to a comfortable shooting range for the conditions. On my 7th day hunting I located this buck again and decided to stop being greedy, really I was getting a little tired of being behind the binoculars. As most of our hunting is done glassing, we hike in, in the dark so that we are in place before the deer start moving to bed.

I shot him at 318 yards with a 270 shooting 150 gr. Nosler partition bullets, he scored 178 5/8". It was a great hunt but would have loved to have my son with, especially since he was 1.5 miles from the pickup. I also stinks to take pictures when hunting alone, because I never get in them, I need to invest in a remote camera some time I guess.

The first picture is taken from where I park my pickup, I shot the buck just in front of the mound between the two flat top buttes on the horizon.

Bleubijou, thanks, he was in full rut! Really like the look of those mature muley bucks when you can't tell were the chest starts and the neck stops! My son should have a good chance at a buck rifle tag next season so maybe he can get a poke at the big one we saw this year.

Our new adventure for next season is that he wants to go to the badlands and attempt to call in a cougar, not sure if that is a smart idea or not but he has talked me into it Think
