How and where to hunt elk in unit 74 CO

Hunting 3rd rifle season in unit 74. First elk hunt. Avid whitetail hunter in VA, but realize this will be very different. Any information on hunting this unit would be greatly appreciated. I have been told that I must be in shape because of steep terrain. Any elk movement information would be great. Thank you.

unit 74

I dont know much about unit 74, but use this website and you'll get your info on elk movement:

Just click on the game maps link, then you can pick the different overlays to show elk concentrations and migration routes.

Thank you duckdog. Only have 1 week to scout and hunt. So I want to make sure I have all information I can. This will really help. Thanks again.

google earth

Sure thing. Use Google Earth to locate parks/meadows. Mark them on your gps and then look for high lookouts where you can see the open area. These are good vantage points for scouting and glassing.

Thanks duckdog. Been on Google earth a little. Enough that my wife has already began to give me a hard time. Not really. She's a great wife and actually gave me this trip. A friend i'm going with has been to this area and gave me some coodinates to look at on GE. Not familiar with the parks though. Trying to find creeks and high flat meadows. I'm guessing that will help. Thanks again. I've bookmarked the site you gave me.
