How about your list of hunting firearms

Instead of opinion polls, hows about listing the guns you actually own and what kinda game you're hunting with them? Then maybe guys won't be getting all uptight...

Here's my list.
.17 HMR; Brno CZ-452 Varmint; Bushnell Legend 5-15X. Paper.
.223 Rem; Brno CZ-527 VLS; Bushnell Legend 5-15X. Coyotes/wolves.
.270 Win; Rem 700 Sendero; 2.5-10X Bush' Elite 4200. Antelope/deer/wolves.
.30-06; Rem 700; 3-9X Bushnell Elite 3000. Deer rifle.
8 x 57; Rem 700 Classic; 1.5-6X Leupold Vari-X III. Deer/elk.
.338 WM; Rem 700; Baush & Lomb Balvar 1.5-6X. Moose.
.45-70 Gov't; Marlin 1895GS; Tasco Titan 1.5-6X (30mm tube). Bear/elk/moose.
.416 RM; Brno ZKK-602 (it was a .375 H&H originally and was rebored and rechambered to .416) It is going to Africa some day... for now, Bear/moose.
Cape buffalo eventually.
.458 WM Brno CZ-550. This gun is getting rechambered to .458 Lott. It is accompanying the .416 on that "Someday African Safari". Cape buffalo.
I might punch out a moose or a bear with it in the meantime.

I've had the .30-06 since 1980 and the .338WM since 1989. I have shot a bunch of bear, deer and moose with those guns.
All the rest have been bought in the last year, as I have gone on a buying spree. Of these new rifles, only the.223 and .45-70 have been used. Shot a nice black bear this year (see thread Re: Cinnamon bear). Shot a few varmints with the CZ-527.
When I go moose hunting this fall I intend to take the .45-70 again. Where we hunt is grizzly country and I will not have a tag this year. Since I'm only the backup gun, I want the light, handy Marlin lever. Next year I should be drawn for moose and then the .416 RM is going moose hunting!
The .270 is going to replace my old faithful .30-06 as my deer rifle starting this fall and the 8 x 57 (2004 so-called "Classic") is going to be taken out after elk in October.

I think it's actually about time I got the finish touched up on my battered, beloved pair of old Remingtons.

1. Remington Model 700 BDL, 30-06, Burris 3X9 ballistic plex.

2. Remington Model 700 ADL Synthetic, 243 Winchester, no scope.

3. Remington Model 700 ADL Synthetic, 7mm Remington Magnum, Burris 3X9 ballistic plex.

4. Remington Model Seven SS, 7mm-08 Remington, no scope.

5. Weatherby Vanguard Synthetic, 300 Weatherby Magnum, Zeiss Conquest 3x9.

6. Marlin Model 25M, 22 WMR, iron sights.

7. Remington Model 870 Express Synthetic, 12 gauge, 3'' chamber.

8. Remington Model 870 Express Super Mag, 12 gauge, 3-1/2'' chamber.

The 30-06, 243, 7 Mag, and 7mm-08 are my general purpose hunting guns, all of them have proven themselves in the field and during load and target tests. The 22 mag is a true rabbit slayer, very accurate and loads of fun to use. The two shotguns are mainly turkey guns, although they have been used for dove, crow, squirrel, and rabbit as well. The Weatherby Vanguard remains unused in the field.

I think that 7-08 would be a great deer rifle. I've always kinga wanted either a 7-08 or a 7 x 57.

Of the guns that I own I shoot my Remington 7mm Mag ss/dm,Remington 3 1/2 12 guage and ruger 10/22, those three are all I will ever need unless I leave this continent to hunt, the rest gather dust or get loaned out when my out-of-state friends and family come up.
