How about stalking?

Too bad you can't have some of the sun we're getting, doesn't do any good over here and they could sure use the rain. Hope it's nice over in T falls next weekend, that's about the only chance I'll get...just out of curiousity, are you going to skin and quarter it in the field or wait til you get home?

How about stalking?

Has anyone been seing any bears ?....I've been out several times in my state , but not a darn thing yet !.....

Here's a bear I stalked last year got with in 3-5 yards before the chance of taking the shot...So YES you can sit and wait for them & then stalk them ..you gotta be quite and be good at stalking or it's blown !...
I would try calling them if i were you, now when doing this i would either do it buddy style or in a tree stand , The buddy system would be sitting back to back with your buddy , cus when your calling in bears they are coming in for one reason and that is to eat , it's a dinner bell !!..But very effective ! And you may get a bonus Cougar or Coyote !!...Give it a try ! (Just keep your eyes and ears open)
Best thing to learn is thermals'. I have also noticed , & this is where i hunt and live it may be different there; but i see the bears here in OR at the break of day light and the one i shot here i shot 30 minnutes before dark
Good Luck To You & Don't Forget To Take Pic's !~

Oh & by the way last year was my first year hunting blackies and was able to connect with a beautiful one! Here is the Pic.

Same deal here in central MT there were a few out and then we got snow and colder temps the first week the season opened and nothing since then.I spent all day last Sun. walking the parks and slides on our place where they usually do alot of digging this time of year and there was NO fresh sign,my opinion any that were out went back in or headed for lower country to get below the snow line.I am waiting for 2-3 days of dry warm weather in a row before i make "the walk" again. And yes right before dark is thier most active time here when they are feeding, but you can catch them out on the shale slides any time of the day.

The bears have been moving in some areas of Washington state since late Feb/ early March and have been wreaking havoc on the young fir trees.

Here is a pic of one I got in April.

I have called bears in at all times of the day, but I prefer from morning until noon.
