Can anyone explan how Antelope horns grow? I know that they kind of shed them every year but do they come back like deer or elk? Do they come back bigger, smaller, the same or do they change every year.
Generally they will, but in a bad dry year they may not gain anything compared to the previous year. To prepare antelope horns for mounting you actually boil the horns until the outer black sheath comes off. Then that is cleaned out thoroughly before slipping it onto the mold that resembles the bone from the actal live animal head and bonding it in place before the tanned hide is put on.
Jim Zumbo, Craig Boddington, Ron Spomer and Wayne Van Zwoll are all solid contributers to the modern hunting literature. Through their gifts (both hunting and writing) they make us better hunters. Whether it is letting us learn from their mistakes or by teaching us new techniques, they help us harvest more game. But I suggest looking to the oldies, the fathers of the outdoor writing craft, to learn tricks that you might have not used.
