hoppes bore snake

anybody here use or heard of this product before? i just went to the "international sportsman's expo" in san mateo, ca and Hoppes had a booth set up there. they were selling these "bore snakes" and had as much business as any other retailer or outfitter i saw there.

its pretty simple; just a long piece of nylon with a more narrow cord on the end to feed down the barrel. there's a piece of brass on the cord to get it through the barrel, and once through, you just pull the entire "snake" through the barrel. the nylon picks up any debris or dust that may have settled. it also has brass bristles embedded in one end to get into the grooves, and an absorbant tip where the nylon meets the cord so you can dip it in some cleaner or solvent.

anyhow, maybe i'm behind the ball since i'm fairly new to shooting. nonetheless, i picked up one for my new .270, and one for my work .40cal sig. it is incredibly easy to use and takes about 30 seconds. seems like a great idea to have along at a range day or out in the field. just thought i'd pass it along!

Yep...............I've had a couple for a few years now. They work great for a quick cleaning in the field or at camp, but they do not take the place of a proper bore scrubbing back at home.
