Honey Burn

I tried the burn technique with using the sugar and anise oil and chopped bacon in my yard, I wanted to try it before I actually used to lure bears since this will be my first time bear hunting this fall I'm willing to try different techniques only thing I saw that I was wondering about was after burning it for about 45 minutes to an hour it didn't have the anise scent anymore do you reccommend not burning it for this long of a time since it didn't smell to appealing to me after awhile I used the sterno canned heat with the stove you can buy with it.
Thanks any advice in advance. Also I planned on asking the outfitter that I'm using about this technique to see what his opinion is since I'm a rookie to hunting bear.

I've never tried the sugar/anise routine. However, I will guarentee that even though you may not be able to smell the anise in the burn after its been going a while, the anise oil is still in the burning surgar mixture and the bears can surly smell it. Plus, whether you're buring sugar or honey, the smokey end product will smell pretty much the same. Whenever I get a whiff of my honey burn, it always reminds me of how cotton candy smells. The bears love it and they will take note of it. So don't be alarmed that you can't smell the anise oil....the bears will know its there.

Honey Burn

WAIT THO ANY TYPE OF A LURE WOULD BE CONSIDERED BAITING WHERE BAITING IS ILLEGAL I TOTALLY GO AGAINST SAYING TRY IT .. so if you really wanted to talk to your local mnr first and old fryer grease works the best where im from..

P.S : Raspberry jelatin on old scraps of meat is by far the best bear bait ive ever used something about the raspberry flavour too
