Holy cow, there's a lot of snow out there still

With all these spring storms we've been having, there's way too much snow to get very far on anything but county maintained roads. Was trying to do some mountain goat scouting yesterday and couldn't get above 9,000 feet very easily.
Could be another short summer if it doesn't warm up soon. It seems the really high country hardly had a chance to green up last year. I'l still seeing good survival on the fawns though, as the deep stuff hasn't been sticking around for too long each time it hits.

Its already heating up over here in the valley, its been 80 plus deg. lately. The old lady had me clean the pool and pour some concrete around it, LOL The weather seams like a california clasic!
I did get a chance to sneek over to the ranch and scout deer, the majority of the deer heard has already begone migrating back up in elevation and the local deer (bucks) have just started growing horns, there little velvet nubs.

Still way too much of the white stuff here in Utah. The central part of the state is even worse then up here in the northern part. Makes it tough to start scouting. But I could be really impatient this year with my elk tag burning a hole in my pocket.

I had to find a new place to turkey hunt this year because of the snow. That is where the question of scouting out your fall hunting area is a little funny for me. There is still 6+ where I usually hunt and I doubt that there are any deer or elk up there yet

No Marty, my good buddy/landlord did after just 4 years of drawing. We need him and his horses for our muzzleloader hunt, so we gotta get him that goat in about a day or two so he doesn't screw up our big elk hunt. banghead

The weatherman reported that SnowBird Ski resort got 84" of snow over the weekend. It's the first of MAY and we are still getting 7 feet of new snow from a spring storm. Yeah, it'll be a while before I can get the horses about 8000 foot elevation around here.

checked the snow measuring site at 10,500 ft and 9300 ft. The 10,500 site still had 118" of snow pack and the 9300 had 65" of snowpack. Definately going to be a while before I get to hunting camp.
