Cam69 guess in your haste to type your tirade you didn't bother to read ..."31 bucks in a streak of 33 years 8pt or better" you don't do that by hoping out a truck ands walking 50 yds from it!
The sport is bigger than what a few of you see it and present it as . Greed has reached hunting. The "ALL FOR ME THE HELL WITH THE REST" crowd is behind QDM.
I noticed neither of you disdputed the fact that QDM is leading to the rapid downfall of free public hunting here in Pa. Cmn69 just how much of Ill. is open to the father and son whom knock on a door and ask permission...I'll answer for you darn little with the outfitters and hunting clubs leasing up hunting rights on farms. Public land here in Pa is shot out PLAIN 'N SIMPLE and good farms and timberlands are being leased at record amounts per acre. I have been offered $9/acre to lease the hunting rights on my 700 acres..I won't do it...not that I can't use an extra $6300 a year to suplement my fixed income. But rather I'll not see hunting reduced ( at least in my area) to a sport for only those whom can afford it and the heck with the rest of the sportsmen/women/kids. That is self serving and in my book the scurge of the sport.

I never disputed the fact that the public lands are harder to hunt. I actually agreed with you on that. But in my own personal experience IN PA the years that I lived and guided there was that the public lands had TOO MANY RETARDS and stone cold IDIOTS on them. Now say you have a Game land of 1000 acres like the one on Mt. Gretna, and you get 50 morons hitting it on Opening day and a LOT of them not even getting into the woods until 8 am!!! You telling me that those deer are too stupid to leave? They get the hell outta there. There are over 300k of OPEN game lands in the south central area ALONE in Pa. Yes there is a lot of posting and leasing going on but the fact is its THEIR property and their AMERICAN rights to post it. People are turning to leasing because they are tired of the stupidity on game lands. Now just HOW is that the PGC's fault? Its just a plain and simple fact that too many people are just to damn lazy to hunt like they are supposed to and when they dont see 50 deer a day they get pissed.

Now AGAIN I tell you I just moved here to Illinois and I REFUSE to hunt here because of the FOID card you MUST get before you can purchase a license here and since I feel it is COMPLETELY against the 2nd amendment I refuse to get it. That being said I have no idea about the availability of hunting here in Illinois. Why keep bringing up that I live in IL so I must not know about PA when I have told you 3 times now that I LIVED in Pa for quite some time until just RECENTLY. Heres a thought. Do you allow every Tom, Dick, and Harry to hunt on your 700 acres? Id imagine not. Just like there are a lot of folks that dont want people hunting on their property because of the stupidity. The PGC cant do anything about the idiots on Game lands unless they are breaking the law. Unfortunatly stupidity and ignorance are not illegal so there isn't much to be done about it. I had the fortune of being raised with courtesy and respect so I usually had no problems gaining access to posted property. I found that MOST posted the property for the simple reason that it made you ASK for permission and they would know who is on their property and where. Even though you SHOULD ask no matter if its posted or not, there are a great many that feel if it aint posted then its OPEN and believe me I know that for a fact as I chased a many of reckless idiots off my property, leading me to posting it.

Yes hunting has become a big money industry bringing in billions each year. But the primary reason for leasing is so you dont have to worry about some reckless moron out there messing up your deer hunting. Strut and I both have actually looked into the idea of leasing some property with unclebuck in his neck of the woods. Actually not a bad idea if you look at the over all picture. But would either of us need to? Nope. I, like him, get into the deep parts where the lazy morons dont go and see deer every outing. Now if Im seeing deer every outing, and strut see's deer every outing, and I can name off MANY more that see deer every outing, how in the hell is it that others dont? Its because they aint gettin out to where the deer are!!! Plain and simple.

Hey Cam, you decide to come up here to hunt, you definitely let me know, I can always use another hunting partner! Hunter777 from the forums is also a friend of mine that I hunt with and I'm sure he'd be happy to have you too! I took off the first two days of bear and the first two days of rifle and I will be going out late archery too, especially if I don't land a buck. Thumbs up

Oh yes Cam69 I can read from the above quote how you were reared in a refined household. It's obvious you were taught no ranting or name calling.
Enough said!
BTW yes I do grant access to my property...but don't bother to request it.

LMAO Laugh Laugh Laugh Sorry there Malt... I just call it like I see it.

If you expect deer to stick around where you are going to see them after you and 50 other people just hit the woods at the same time making all kinds of noises. Deer are probably one of the smartest, instinctive animals on earth and know when to make it out of the thin stuff. To successfully hunt on the PGC lands then you have to get in deep and dark and QUIET. Its that simple. And to blame the PGC for not seeing deer on the public lands under these conditions is foolish and irresponcible.

I've seen how it is on Game lands and I sit back and laugh when they all complain about not seeing any deer (while I drag mine past them) .

The majority of those complaining just dont get out there and hunt. Are the deer numbers lower? I would hope so since that was what was needed. Are there still VAST opportunities in the state? Heck yeah there are. And even better opportunities at BIG BUCKS since the adoption of QDM. If you arent seeing deer on that 700 acres and you do allow every Tom, Dick, and Harry on there Malt, then my advise to you would be to thin out how many people are hunting your property. I had 220 acres of my own and saw more than 10 deer a day on it EVERY day I hunted. But I was smart enough not to over hunt it and chase them off into the next county!! Deer aint stupid Malt. When you finaly come to realize that they are just getting smarter about hunting season and hiding in the deep, you and other hunters will have more success.

Good day to you Malt and good luck Thumbs up
