Hike up Cedar Mtn 6/28/09 (photos)

The closest mountain to Craig, Colorado is Cedar Mtn, about 5 miles northwest. It's a great place for a day hike. Once on top, you literally have a 360 degree view of the surrounding landscape. Right now with all the rain we've had, the entire Yampa Valley is a brilliant green and the wildflowers are glorious! I remembered my camera, here are a few photos I took today.

Looking south over the town of Craig. The darker green horizontal strip are the trees along the Yampa River. In the distance are the Flattops, they still have some snow.

Looking west from the top of Cedar Mtn - I'm sure I can see Utah!

Looking east; at the very left edge are the Bear's Ears peaks.

Lots of prickly pear cactus in bloom!

Wild lupine

Wildflowers and rocks, looking west
