Beautiful job! Really nice to see really good sheats with the knives. When I got my "Track" many years ago, it was a great knife and poorly thought out sheath. I had it replaced with one made by a saddle shot in Ore. Beautiful knife.
Thanks guys. I have always said a knife without a sheath is almost as useless as a sheath without a knife.
First and formost function is top of my concern. Each sheath is custom fit to that knife its with and this allows for proper fit. It wont fall out ,infact you can turn them upside down and shake them but light pressure on with thumb and finger will draw them easily.
After that I do the decoritive stuff just because I do enjoy leather work. Sometime this summer Im going to do some presentation peices with inlayed rattler.
I probably will always stay with a "western" flair in my sheaths so i hope it doesnt get old to look at, Another variation Im practicing is rawhide laced (braided) edges.
What do you do with those empty nylon feed bags or dog & cat food bags? Can you say recycle? I use them for target practice for the youngsters. Take your empty shopping bags, stuff them into an empty nylon feed bag. You can also use old clothing or rags, (but put them in the bottom so it doesnt get top heavy). When your bag is full, fold the top over, punch some holes into the top and zip tie the top shut. Paint, draw, paste, or have the kids decorate their new target. Set it out 10 or 20...
