High or low?

I hiked 12 miles last surday between 9000-10,000ft and did not cut 1 elk track in the snow.  Obviously that just means the elk were not in the area, but any ideas if the elk are still up high or have they moved down low? Possible scattered everywhere from hunting pressure?

I am debating trying up high over 12,000ft this weekend.  Any thoughts?

Every area is different. I

Every area is different. I had bulls bugling at 8000ft a month ago.

Yet still found fresh tracks at 11,000 ft too.

Only way to know for sure is to try all altitudes.

How much snow where you

How much snow where you hiking thru? My rule is if it is 15 inches or more than I hunt lower as typically the higher you go the more snow.
