Hi all

yes NJ has a very good deer population....Infact a little to good.....We also some of the longest deer seasons in the country....You can basicly hunt deer from the begining of Sept right on through mid Feb. Some very liberal bag limits also...with bow , muzleloader, and permit shotgun you can shoot unlimited antlerless deer...and if you hunt all the seasons you can shoot 6 bucks per year...1 during regular bow, 1 during permit bow, 1 during muzleloader, 2 during six day firearm, and 1 during the winter bow season...I personally think thats way to many bucks to be taken by one person in a year...However you can still find some real good bucks on the public land

Hi all

Took a 6 pt in the snow up in the Adk,mts. Trophy hunted with the bow here in CNY (1/2 hr North of Cortland). Saw no trophys? Could not get back up north last weekend so just kept my head low for southern opener of shotgun. Will try to knock down a doe or two this weekend to fill the freezer.

Thinking about you & your fellow troops

Hi Joe,

My family and I thank for your service to this great country. I read recently an article in deer & deerhunting magazine about taking a military person hunting w/ you. It basically talked about keep our troops in mind when out in the woods because you / they are unable to hit the woods this season. I have not seen much this season last week I finally saw a doe when I got my sight on it she had tucked behind a tree only the butt was visable. I figured I'd wait her out she ended up behind some hemlocks when I noticed another doe w/ her. watched them for 2-3 minutes but then they bolted, never got the shot. All my friends and people talk to have not seen much this season. We are now getting low temps in the single digits to teens @ night which hopefully will keep them active. Today was the last day of all sex, tomorrow starts buck only. The biggest problem right now is the leaves are so dry it's like walking on potato chips hopefully the ground will freeze or snow soon to dampen some of the noise. Pic from 2006 of me on right both our deers were taken less then 14 hours of each other and both weighed exactly 153 lbs. mine was a six point my buddies was an 8 point. Best wishes to you & your family this Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

Chuck
