I think it would be in your best interest to hunt eastern WA for turkeys, there are a lot over here.

Yup...as others have said, you'd be best off heading to the other side of the mountains. the northeastern part of the state is loaded with turkeys and lots of public land. klickitat is great and also the southeastern corner of the state is real good. eastern birds ggt killed in western wa every year, but they're pretty few and far between...you could probably have good enough turkey hunting in washington to eliminate an out of state hunt if you did some diggin north of spokane. grab the latest fishing and hunting news...there's some info there, and the '07 turkey pamphlet should be out from WDFW soon and that will have lots of info. we got an extra 2 weeks added to our season this year, but we no longer get a turkey tag with our small game tag, but they dropped the prices of the tags. this state is really turning into a turkey hunters paradise.

Klickitat has not been producing as it was in the past, atleast the state land is not. Klickitat has increadibly limited access which forces hunters together like a turkey parade. No thanks. See you in the Northeast come April.

I have seen plenty of Turkeys in the Thurston county area, in Multiple GMU's. I have yet to kill one, because the only problem is that I see plenty of them in the fall and winter and they all but disapear in the spring. The only luck I had last year was calling a hen in off of her nest in to about 15 yards. They do exist here in Thurston county and are more common then you think despite the fact people usually never see them. The addvice I will give anyone looking for them is to keep your eyes open for sign while deer hunting in the fall, versus going out looking for a birds. My two spots in Thurston county that I hunt them in were actually grouse hunting spots until I started noticing the turkey droppings all up and down the old skidder trails and eventually spotted the flocks while out huntin grouse.

Ain't that the truth. I know a guy up near Adams that has a flock of them getting into his barn and eating the grain. More like pests than game birds.
