Agree with the Eberlestock, next on the list would be the Badlands 4500. Those 2 would be if you are having to pack quaters. If you want an external from pack the alaska guide from cabelas I have used as well and works great.

You did ask about "day packs" and the above mentioned are bigger but allow to pack quarters. If you are not going to be packing quarters the bow/rifle scent lok pack is an awesome pack for day packing and has a zip off smaller packe for shorter day trips away frmo base camp. Good luck hope this helps.

FYI the 4500 is on sale on camofire today for $169! that is a steal but in winter camo only.

This is the bag I have. Got it 3 years ago and I have no complaints. Well worth the money IMO.

BLACKHAWK!!

I just purchased BLACKHAWK Dark Timber (i think thats the model), and I used it when i killed my bull on wednesday. It is a very tight unit that expands from a tight form fitting pack to a very capable hauling rig. On my first trip (all the way) back to my truck I was able to fit both backstraps, a boned out rear quarter in the expanded compartment and the additional straps allowed me to easily attatch the andlered head to that outside of the pack. NOW, I will tell you, no matter what kind of pack you have, I would not suggest trying to haul that much in one load..... I was a little over zealouse on that first trip and believe me I paid for it. It must have weighed 120lbs!!! I did not do that again, nor will I ever. Any way, BLACKHAWK is the, by far, most renowned manufacturer of law enforcement and military (Hard-Core) gear. This is the best quality stuff you can spend money on. I have used black hawk LE equipment for a lond time and it is, again, the best. I went to thier website and paid !!!! $79.99 !!!!! for this PERFECT pack! It retailes for over $200 Bones normally. I almost bought 3 of them cause it was such a smokin deal!

Just curious...do you use this much as a day pack? I ask because I have the exact same pack and it works awesome for my back country trips but I didn't like it much for a day pack. It just seems a little heavy and bulky. I ended up getting another pack for day trips with an internal frame. But I will say once an animal is down...after the first trip out this pack comes back with me though the get the rest out.
