these abandon mines are all

these abandon mines are all over nevada, and are often forgot about when out huntin, youll never know when the ground could give way becase of a rotting mine shaft below your feet. i wonder what the turn out would have been if this guy was a seniters son or someone important he'd probobly be recovering in the hospital. i find it hard to belive that we can put a guy on moon but will give up on a guy stuck in a mine shaft.

It would seem that more

It would seem that more effort could have been made since they knew for sure he was still alive at least for awhile. If the Navy Seals couldn't get down there it must have been really bad though. Still we have seen some unbelievable rescues this last year to give up so easily on this one. I guess we better be watching really close where we're walking huh?

While all that I know of it

While all that I know of it is what I have read they may of made a sound decision.  From what I understand there was way too much trash and rocks falling in of the rescuers that were trying to go down into the shaft to rescue him to the point that they were wondering if they were going to have to rescue the rescuers and without being at the scene you will never know just what was going on.  As far as what the final decision that was made I am sure that it was a real tough one for the rescuers.  They hate loosing someone.

Now from where I am coming from, I worked with a excavation company in Utah that was sealing up abandoned mines and you wouldn't believe what would fall into the shaft with very little surface disturbance.  That along with the people that would go down into those shafts unprepared for what they were getting themselves into.  This story line follows just about the same as the one in Utah's Nutty Putty Cave a couple of years ago.   http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705347362/Man-trapped-in-Utah-Countys-Nutty-Putty-cave-dies.html

I certainly agree that you

I certainly agree that you don't put others at risk if things are that bad. Like I said if the Seals were involved who are basically trained for anything than it had to have been really bad. And when it is clear that life has ended there is no need to risk the lives of others.

well in all reality

well in all reality stay away from mine shafts, you go lookin for trouble your gonna find it. but i think there could have been more efert made to get him out while he was alive. they got all those miners out of that coal mine in a third world sh@$ hole that where twice as far down, i understand this guy wouldnt had lasted that long for the time needed to do that extraction. but still this should have been a boy scout job compared to that........................... i hate comin across these thing out chucker huntin, there exciting to find and the history behind them is awsome but then you start to think about how much hallow ground have you coverd before you found the opening. i get pissed when i fall into a gopher hole,i cant imagine falling into a mine shaft.
