I was just wondering if anybody has been out looking for sheds yet i know its a little early but i got started and just looking to see what you guys have to say or if anybody has found any antlers yet.
I have found a few here in Washington they are for the most part done dropping.....hoping to get out and look for some moose horns soon I know a few guys who have found a couple sets already this year....I will post some pics after work....
I live in a subdivision just out of a town of 30,000 people and have a half acre yard and my nieghbor behind me has a little woods about 75 yards by 35 yards and i went back there to get my golden retriever when he started chasing something out of my front yard last night and i went back there and found a really nice half of a possible 10 point buck that has some good mass! i think im gonna put a stand on the telephone pole next to the woods lol!
We have several inches of snow and it has been hard to look for anything. The deer moved yesteday morning or were in the road alot. I like to look in March after a nice rain. Were suppose to get a ice storm Saturday. I like to drive up to the Pigeon Forest and look for Elk sheds as soon as the snow is gone.
There can be too much of a good thing with antler rattling.
I like to hit the horns together for a good 30- to 40-second rattling sequence and then hang them up and resist the urge to hit them again.
This works to the hunter's advantage, because if a buck has heard it, he may have been 300 or 400 yards away and he comes in and he's not exactly sure where it came from.
When finally is time to rattle again throw a slight change-up into the routine.
The second time, don't rattle as loud...
