Hardcore crow hunters?

Just wondering if any of you guys actually know someone that focuses on crows. They are fair game statewide, year round here in Colorado but I have never met anyone that actually hunts them. I have entered an aspen stand shortly after hearing a lone shot and found a still steaming crow and a nearby .410 shotshell. So I know there is atleast one guy that is hunting them.

Every once in a while it's

Every once in a while it's fun to shoot those things but sometimes they're smarter than we think

The big problem is if it is

The big problem is if it is legal in the state you are from.  When I was a kid we used to hunt them all the time.  That is until we found out that it wasn't legal anymore in that state.  The legal issue comes from a treaty that the US signed with Mexico and the interpertation of that treaty or what ever it was.  See there is a bird in Mexico that is similar to the crow and that bird is protected.  So some states say no to crow hunting while others say kill them all.

At least this is my understanding.

It's legal to hunt them year

It's legal to hunt them year round here but I don't know anyone who hunts them on a regular basis. We hunted them one time but didn't have much success.

I knew some guys back in

I knew some guys back in Vermont that would hunt them, mainly as a tune up for the other bird seasons, or for something to do when they are waiting for the other seasons to open up.  I never like to kill anything I am not going to eat, and I never wanted to eat a crow, so I never shot one.

This is my thoughts on crow

This is my thoughts on crow hunting and only applies to me and not those that choose to hunt them.  i don't hunt crows nor would I shoot them because I am not going to eat them and if I want to target practice then I'll shoot paper targets.  I like crows and their loud caw caws.  Again, this is only my own opinion and in no way should suggest that I think others shouldn't shoot them as long as it is legal.

I feel the same way about prairie dogs, but to a lesser degree because I see the damage they do to pasture land and the threat their holes pose to livestock.  Also, I think it is better to surgically remove prairie dogs then to poison them.  The poison can poison other animals directly or indirectly through consumption of the prairie dogs.  Just my two cents.
