Well it looks like the bucks around my neck of the woods are starting to rub off the velvet, I was hoping to shoot a velvet buck this year so I'm hoping a few of them hold out for another week.

Most of the bigger bucks
Most of the bigger bucks around here are still in velvet. The immature deer have started shedding their velvet. Any day now and the big boys will be hard horned.

All the deer that I saw this
All the deer that I saw this last weekend were still all in velvet. Now the elk are all clean, at least the 2 of them that I saw along with all the pictures of dead ones.

It'll be about 50/50 here.
It'll be about 50/50 here. We'll see a few in Velvet shot this weekend for the opener, but by the time they really start rolling in, they'll be hard.

The little ones always seem to hold on to their velvet a little bit longer than the big guys
