Great post Mike! I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day. Eat whatever moves you. Enjoy a drink or three, figuring out your designated driver beforehand. And enjoy some fireworks, if that's what moves you!
Just one little request tho. Try to take a moment and think of the deeper meaning of the 4th, which goes way deeper than picnics, cold beers and great food. Perhaps you might even propose a toast to those great & brave men who put meaning to an infant nation, as yet to be developed. And, one final note..... Whatever your political beliefs, remember we are still the finest, most powerful nation on this earth. Have no doubt of that. We all have something in common there as citizens!
Try to put your tree stand in a tree with plenty of background cover, keep the prevailing winds for that time of the year to your face, and take care of those pesky squeaks and creaks your stand may have developed while sitting in the shed. A good treestand lube can be made by heating petroleum jelly until it reaches a liquid form. Some hunters have reported success by including a cover scent in this mixture before applying it to their stands.
