GUN FOR CO ELK

I am putting in for an elk license in CO this year. Blackpowder season. I am going with some guys that have been before and have their opinions but just wanted to here somemore. I am an avid hunter but have never hunted Elk or with a muzzleloader. What would be a good setup. Does not have to the top of the line as a trip up there every couple years will be all I use it for. I know the regs for it. I just want to know a guality gun and load that will do the job.

Thanks in advance

Hi KDC 1143,

about which gun are you thinking? A inliner or a traditional ML?

I would like to have a TC Encore but that is a little pricy for me. I am looking at the tc omega and the traditions pursuit LT

So you are looking for an inliner.
I would recomend a CVA Wolf 209 magnum. It is easy to handle like a modern break open rifle.

Got a Remington Genesis last year and love it. Easy to use, easy to clean, shoots very consistently. Took my first ML deer with it just a couple of days ago. I'm falling in love with it quickly, and even used it for shotgun season this year, instead of my trusty 12gauge. Price is reasonable too.

KDC, What did you end up getting for this hunt? How did it go? A little late for input but I hunt with a CVA Optima and absolutely love it. Shoots great and easy to clean. This is the first year I have owned this muzzy but will be using it for a long time.
