Guide tip question?

Now I have never been on a guided hunt and never anticipated ever going because of the dollars involved. With that said, an opportunity that is to good to pass up (free) fell into my lap and I am now going on a spring bear hunt in Northern Saskachewan. For a hunt that goes well, good food, has outfitters that do a good job (regardless of if a bear is harvested or not) what would be a reasonable tip to give to my guide?

I honestly have no idea!

Thx

Pat

Re: Guide tip question?

I usually get $100 to $200 per hunt day. Spring black bear usually $100 and fall brown bears $200.

Re: Guide tip question?

For a good guide (that does not always mean getting an animal) a guide that knows what they are doing and workes hard to try to get you a trophy 18 to 20 %. A guide that does not pull his weight in camp or on the hunt much less.
Now since you are not paying anythig 20% of nothing even with "new" math is still nothing. Find out what this guids prices are and tip according to that.

Thanks guys, this is all new to me so had to ask. Have hunted for 40 years and never had a guided hunt, but with what you all told me I think I was in the ball park!
