Well Duke is moving along pretty well. He's a bit soft about the blank gun yet so going slow there but he's getting much better. If he'd been exposed younger we could shoot birds over him now. Took him off the check cord Saturday and worked him on a few and he held well enough we could have shot them all. He's making great strides! Love this little guy!

Now JR I've seen some photo's your wife did and they were great! That b/w of Bodie Lucky Guy sent to a friend that sells dog food. He told me about it the other day. Hasn't heard from him yet though.
Been awhile since I've been on. Been having terrible trouble getting loged in. Changed my password again a couple days ago.
Got an up date on Duke. He's all I'd hoped he'd be. Glenn took him to Brownlee Resivour last month wwith his Setter Ben and Duke did all the retrieving. He's been on a preserve twice now and his first time out not only retrieved all Glenn's birds but found his first game bird and handled it very well. He was out with my son and I a week or so ago and had four finds and one very long retrieve on a cripple. Then he's made two more trips with Glenn and did a bunch more retrieving and finally got his first wild find! He's really starting to hunt independent of the older dogs and he's holding his own with them.
He did get ssick again. He went home with Glenn for a week or so and picked up kennel cough somewhere. Not sure where as Ben doesn't have it and neither Squirt or Bodie have it. Oh well, he's good to go again and next week Glenn is taking him to Silver Lake for a day hunt. That's just a bit far fopr me to go on a day hunt so I'm staying home.
BTW JR. After the first of the year, duke's will be going home for good. While he was there last time, Glenn's wife told him that if keeping him was a burden on me, they would have to take him hime. She really like the little bugger,,,,other than getting on the furniture!

I think the true "LUCKY GUY" here is Duke himself. To have a couple of gentlemen like Don and Glen looking after him, Duke has a chance at a real dogs life.

Hey Glenn about 4" on the ground this morning but warmed up and melting off. Been nice out all day. Built a pigeon trap this week and put in out on a local ranch this morning. They told me they had about 40 they wanted gone at cards last Wed so I got on the trap. See what happens. Thought Shane would be there to show me where to put it but he was there and gone, damn guy never sleeps in! Turned all the ferals loose up at Shaniko about noon. They were all home pretty quick. Gonna work my way to Wamic with them if I can.
Sure I'll miss Duker but I know where he's at and Bodie give's him a bad time sometimes. He's figured out that if he does what he wants near me Bodie growls but that's it! Something he and Squirt saw in the barn go under some boards I have in there drive them both nut's. I open the door and they are in there right now. Well don't have to open the door anymore, Duke does it now. Guess he got tired of waiting for me to walk out there.
BTW, welcome to BGH. Bunch of super guys on here! Cowgirl is supposed to be a great camp cook. We'll have to go to Colo. next fall and steal her for the bird season!
Emely's glad to be home I bet. You didn't tell her Duke was dropped off on your way to get her did you? You did and I'd bet she's upset!
WOW! Glad you caught that! The boss would have given me a bad time about that! Fixed it, now I have no idea what your talking about!
