Grizzly Bear Hunt

Hi I am the wife of an avid hunter. Its our 20th Ann in Oct and I am looking to purchase an exciting hunt for my hubby. I have no Idea how to go about it, any suggestions? Even maybe not grizzly, but something else? Not interested in Elk, or Moose, we have a million of them up here where we live. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TY Big smile

does he duck hunt? we could use some more people addicted to that .
maybe hunting boar in the south would be something for him.
but i got to say not much can beat hunting waterfowl in my opinion. maybe combine the 2.
what ever you decide shop around and get referances from past clients.

I dont think that he has ever duck hunted, as far as I know thats not big around here. He does hunt grouse, only because I like to do that aswell. Boar, he might like Im not sure. I was kinda looking for like maybe a week hunt of some sort, not sure. I looked into grizzly in Alaska, but I cant justify spending 15 - 20,000, on a hunt, would rather buy a trip to europe for that, but thanks for the reply I will keep looking.

Your husband is a lucky man! There are so many options out there, you may consider talking with a booking agent you can help you explore those options and find the right hunt with a reputable outfitter. I would be happy to help you out, as would I am sure a number of other booking agents who frequent this site or can be found over the internet. Working with a booking agent won't cost you a thing and will minimize the risk of finding a good outfitter and maximize finding the right option. Good luck and bless you for wanting to do a great thing for your husband!

That's the trouble with living in paradise - everything else is pretty tame by comparison. I'm assuming since what a dream hunts for most is old hat for you, you're looking for something out of the ordinary:

Arctic Caribou?
Mexican Mule Deer?
Texas Whitetails?
New Zealand has some pretty good hunting too for red stag, Axis deer and feral pigs?
Sask Goose?

Hi, thank you so much for your reply. Ok I didnt even know that there was booking agents out there. Shows you what I know, I only shoot grouse, or with a camera. And yes I live in paradise here, but I just wanted to give him a different experience of some sort because hunting is his one thing he truly loves in life, besides me of course lol. Cariboo might be an option, we do have those up here, I kind of was looking at something not close to here. See I know that for limited entry he always enters for grizzly, so bear could be a big option, and i know he goes for winter bison, but he has the luck of a bean bag and never gets anything. Im not sure. Elk used to be a challenge but they seem to have exploded in population around here, we go out on our river boat and can see them running all over the hillsides. Maybe a sheep?? I dont know. Anyways I will check back later and if you can help me I will be ever so greatful. And thanks again for the replies.

have you ever considered african plains game? Thumbs up
you can do a 2 hunter :1 guide combo hunt with 5-7 hunting days, including airfare for under $12,000, depending on how much and what you want to shoot. i would suggest Namibia as the most cost effective and one of the safer destinations, with RSA next in line. it would definitely be different than canada. lol

Hi, yes I looked at a few of the African hunting packages. The only thing is I dont know anyone that would want to go with him, and I am not sure if he would find it enjoyable going over to a strange country alone. I think I would like to keep it either in Canada or the US. Im not sure how that works for hunting across border? Brick Wall,) Such as taking your gun across the border? Also, what is available at what time of the year? is there anything in october?, if not its not a big deal. Just aslong as its not the 2nd and 3rd week in Septemeber cause god forbid anything get in the way of his Elk hunting lol.

you could go with him, either as a hunter or as an observer. if an observer, the costs would go down quite a bit and you could be under $8-10 thousand. africa is a great place to visit, if only to see and say you had been there. some visits to tourist places such as etosha pan, the namib coast could be done also. i understand gun transport for a canadian can be problematic, if passing thru the US, but possibly you could fly to frankfurt germany directly and pick up air namibia to windhoek, bypassing us gun regs. at worst, you can rent a gun there from the PH, average is about $30 day plus ammo. just something to think about. good luck Mr. Cool!

Nah, I think I will pass. I have a huge phobia of giant animals with claws and fangs lol. I used to be huge into hunting when we used to hunt out of the truck, gradually it went to quads, which i loved but now, its quad to a game trail, hike or stalk all day......just not my thing anymore. This is for him not for me. I would consider sending my son with him though, but I know he would not be up to going to africa I dont think. Maybe if there was a group hunt of ppl already going might be an option. I know its beautiful there. My parents went there 3 years ago and did a 3 day canoe ride down the (sorry dont know spelling) zambizi river with all the crocs, and hippos. If im going, its got to be within north america I think. But ty anyways

Ever heard of a/z outfitters in southern BC?They run spring grizzly hunts, and have plenty of bears.I just returned from a 10 day goat hunt and everyone in camp saw bears including one massive griz, not to mention tracks everywhere.Bill and Brent Dubois run an excelent hunt and I would highly recomend them.I just shot my trophy of alifetime with them, anine and three eighths mt goat.It was worth every penny.Good luck.www.abarzoutfitters.com
