Well I finally made it home after a very long year in Iraq. Got in about 0300 and finally back to the house about 0600. Was way to excited to sleep so went out on the deck to just take in the sunrise and breath some cool clean air. As we were on then porch we could hear two bulls bugling back and fourth for about 30 minutes. Talk about a great welcome home. It sent a chill down my back to hear them. It was great but was very surprised to hear them this late. It feels great to be home and looking very forward to hunting with my family during the third season. We were not sure we would even get a hunt in this year so I am thankful for that. We will be heading out this weekend to do a little scouting.

Thanks for your service
Welcome home and thanks for your service and sacrifice for our country and citzens. Too many times folks who don't have to make sacrifices defending our country lose sight of what it really means for those who do. You are very much appreciated!
And what a cool way to be welcomed, a couple of elk bugling in the distance from your deck. That's really awesome. Get out and enjoy the hunt! Wish you the best on that too.

Ditto what CO said! Thanks for all your service, and we're all glad you made it home safe and sound from Iraq. We appreciate everything you do, and all you sacrifice by going over there!
And, it sounds like you got the perfect welcome back. Cool weather, bulls bugling, and family. Best of luck with the scouting, and hopefully we'll see you throwing up some photos and stories of your hunts soon!
Just curious, what season are you scouting for? 2nd Season? That is this weekend, right?

Monster, thanks for the
Monster, thanks for the reply. Second season starts this weekend 22 Oct but we will be hunting third season 5-13 Nov. Due to being gone, we were not sure we would be able to hunt so bought some left over tags. We had to get tags in a unit we have not hunted but I do know a little bit from fishing the area. With left overs, beggers cannot be choisers. We need to find a few places for camp, the roads to get in and out and check out a few areas to hunt. Since second season will be going on we will not be getting out much as I do not want to mess up anyones hunt. Between me, my son, and wife we have 3 doe tags, a buck tag, a cow and a bull tag. With that mess of tags we should get some meat in the freezer. Just getting back out into the hills will be great but getting a few critters down will be the icing on the cake. For sure I will post once we get back.

If you don't get some meat in
If you don't get some meat in the freezer with those tags, we will be severly disappointed....
Seriously though, to have the whole family going out like that, it's gotta be special. Can't wait to see how you do. You deserve some R&R!

Welcome home SGM!!! Thank you
Welcome home SGM!!! Thank you for your service and sacrifice. If anyone deserves a good hunt it would be you. Hearing the bulls talking must have been a welcoming sound. There is nothing like seeing a mountain sunrise and hearing the wildlife come alive. I'm glad you made it home safe and good luck on your upcoming hunt and I hope you can drop a nice animal.
