The Great Length of Pull Debate

Alright, what is everyone's opinion / suggestions / experiences in measuring length of pull? I've never really given it much thought other than if it feels right and shoots right then it probably is right. But lately as the semi-custom rifle itch has taken hold of me I've tried to do a little research and found varying opinions. I've actually had a shotgun fitted by a gunsmith, but even among gunsmiths I've found mixed opinions. My rifle of course has to do cold weather duty as well so by nature it will be a bit shorter, but by how much I don't know. All ideas and opinions welcome.

One thing to keep in mind is that generally one is wearing thicker clothes hunting then when in the store buying and feeling the fit

Exactly the conditions I live in Romey. At the range on a nice day and too warm for me to hunt.. to sleet, snow, rain and thats the good weather Big smile
I can't remember a firearm that I wasn't comfortable with, with the exception of some old junk that I used to get my hands on many years ago.

The Great Length of Pull Debate

I generally cut my stocks to fit with the idea of added clothing ,in warmer months adding absorber, limbsaver or whatever to proper length without the cold weather gear .i.e. working up a load or what have you. Roughly a inch. Even on the magnum rifles i have the thicker recoil pads off during the winter because clothing makes up for it and i dont shoot round after round, recoil is generally felt less while hunting anyway and just not needed for a single shot.
Anyhow thats my thought about going about changing fits.

I don't worry

I never worry too much about measuring it or think too much about it.  If the gun fits then it fits.  Clothing is always going to alter that somewhat.
