Nice rifle, and you got plenty of time to get her a better scope !!

I'd give the scope a try first. That 1-4 power would be a deadly combo in a thick, forested area.

Better scope?? Damn Hammer1, I was just beginning to like you! Big smile I've been hauling that scope around over thirty years and finally found another use for it. Actually, I like lower power scopes. Let's see if I can get my 30-06 in here. It's got a 2 3/4x Redfield Widefield that did service for me on a 338 Win Mag and a 308 Win. I've found that a low power really gather's light, is fast to get on target, doesn't show all your wobble's as bad and work's very well out to about 250 yds, maybe a bit farther.

So...how's that work, anyway? Do you pick the low-hanging ones and shoot the others that are out of reach?

Beautiful little girl, and beautiful rifle!

I just built a 6.5x55 of my own.

After seeing the pics, it makes me want to go home and hold my little girl (and my rifle)! Big smile

Here's the 1.5 - 7 x 42 scope that she said she wants. She said she wants a scope with plenty of eye relief so she doesn't get a " bad bump." and the 42 mm objective lens provides great brightness at any power.
The Easter Bunny is comming soon Don, and too much chocolate is not good.

hammer 1

ps Post a pic of her holding her new Redfield.
