GPS units

I also took the plunge into the tech world last season and had the Garmin E-trex with me. With the higher end versions you can get the topo maps, roads, and all the goodies. I like this unit for its compactness and ease of use. Even in the dense forests of NM I was always able to lock on to the satalites and mark my points. This unit is now on my must list for all my hunts. I have used it to mark scrapes, trails, stands, blood trails, and, of course, camp for those afterdark hikes back. Give it a look at Garmin's web page. They also have a new one that also has the family radio included in it.

I think the new one with the built in radio is called the rhino.
