Got an invite to hunt Alaska.

I was invited to go on a moose and / or caribou hunt up in Alaska. Don't know if I'll be able to make it. If I can, I was wonder if a 338-06 would be enough gun for any situation that I might encounter. I would prefer using the 338-06, but I'd rather not be any critters hot lunch. Any comments on this cartridge choice?

Fuzzy,
Not familiar with that round, but if memory serves me it falls somewhere between a 30-06 and a 300 mag in stopping power. If so it should be fine as long as you can shoot it confidently. Moose and Caribou aren't that hard to kill if hit properly.

Fuzzy

Not a problem, That 338-06 will perform similar to the standard 338 win mag.
I have had great success with this cartriage. the 210 grain nosler partitions work excellent.

It looks like I'll be putting this trip off for another year or two. I should be very proficient with the rifle by then. eye roll

Too bad, that is a well respected cartridge up here.
