Going to Maine!

Jay,
The ground cover is mill felt. It's used in the paper machines. If you know someone who works in a paper mill you can usually get your hands on some. I was lucky enough to get a large piece. About 20 feet wide and 200 feet long, it works great as ground cover or as walls for a pole barn. I live in a mill town and you see it everywhere! Thanks for the comments on the website, I am not very computer savvy and I managed to build it myself.

Going to Maine!

Sorry guys for the delay but I have been out of town a bit and was also in the hospital for a week. All is well though!

We are really getting ready now. I truly appreciate the posts on here. Since my original post we decided to hire a guide service to help us out. Getting the animals out of the woods in good shape was our primary concern. Anyway, thank you all so much for the posts and especially those in Maine who were so hospitable. I read the responses and was reminded why I hang out with the kind of people that like to do what we do!!!

Hopefully I will be posting pics in a couple of weeks!

Brian

Going to Maine!

Well, I will start off by telling you we did not get our moose. As most of you know, the weather was just too hot. With that said, we had an absolute fantastic time! I loved Maine and the people in Bingham were so nice to us that I definately want to go back sometime. The chances of landing a permit again are pretty small but we are going to keep trying for sure. We did see a lot of grouse, a couple of huge coyotes, some deer, and two really good black bear in addition to five bull moose. Our's was a cow tag and as luck would have it we didn't see a cow all week. Everyone in town was talking about how hard the moose hunting was this year and that literally no one was bringing in any moose. We talked to the tagging station on Thursday and they said they hadn't checked in one moose all day. Anyway, it was tough hunting and we put some miles in walking (yes, I like to get out of the truck!) but we had a ton of fun. You guys up that way have some wonderful places to hunt and a ton of game so I am jealous! Thanks again for all of the replies. Our bow season has started now so I am going to concentrate on WV whitetails until the end of the year. Well, and some black bear in December!
