Go figure!

Well, I decided to start taking a day off each week this month, so I can go hunting mid-week and avoid the crowds.  Went out yesterday, and I saw the forecast for 48 degrees and 15 mph winds.  Well, 15 mph winds are not bad.  So, I get out to my spot, only passed a couple vehicles on the way.  I start out over the ridge, and almost get blown over Brick Wall .  Must have been steady 25 mph, gusting to 40.  I sat there for 3 hours seeing nothing, and even had my hat blown off and had to go chasing it up the hill.

I left and road hunted back out.  I go over the cattle guard, which signifies the start of private property.  I get not even 1/2 mile down the road, and there'a really tall, deep fork horn standing in the road at 50 yards staring at me. Go figure!  I laughed, tried to get my camera adn or cell phone for a photo.  The deer just looked at me for 30 seconds or so, then casually stepped over the fence and walked away.  I called my buddy and drove on.  As I was driving, i look up and see 2 does in someone's backyard.  Then, I see 3 more trotting through another yards heading for their pond.  Finally, I get close to the main road and almost run over 11 turkeys.  Good news is they all look like this years birds.

Ugh.  One day I will get one of these darn deer.

Soon!

:It will happen soon!

Was the big forky on Engineers?  If so, look at "the ghost" in my gallery and tell me if that is him.  I haven't been out that way this year so I don't know if he is still around.  I used to Cry have permission on a couple of properties out there.

My son and I experienced the same type of winds opening weekend.  That blows....Joker

No, I was on Eagle Peak, not

No, I was on Eagle Peak, not BC.  I just came out of the NF land over that cattleguard there by McGee.  I got about 4 or 5 turns down the road overlooking that big valley/ranch on the West side.  He was right there.  Actually, I think I saw him this spring in the exact spot.  It was just off the east side of the road, 25 yards away, already starting his antlers.  It was the same trail this one was headed on.
