GMUs In Wa State

What GMU's did everyone do good at in the 2007 hunt for deer and elk? Im kinda curious before i do some serious scouting in my area. I checked the past reports on the WDFW website for 05 and 06. Seems like the areas where I want to hunt didnt do very good for elk and deer. mainly the game to hunter ratio. However the GMU's around Spokane seems like a better choice for me to hunt mainly a 33% ish hunters got their kills compaired to 1 to 8% from Rimrock, Bethal, Nile, and Little Naches areas. I duno I know that it seems very inconsiderate but I am going to be a new hunter and all and I know that scouting is a big portion of being sucessful. Any info is apprecheated thank you!

You're in a good area down in Yakima. I got an elk down there this year, what weapon choice are you thinking, it will make a big difference in your success. The area around spokane has quite a few Whitetail deer, but few mulies...it depends what you're after.
if you just want to kill a deer go muzzloader aorund spokane and shoot a whitetail doe...it helps the herd and will give you some time in the woods Yes

i would like to get a deer and a elk this year, but doubtfully it will happen. sure i see more elk (cows) in the yakima area than deer (bucks). the weapon of choice is a modern firearm, 3006. but like i said, i have checked with the past years of 05 and 06 kill ratios to hunters and spokane seems like the best bet. however i was told today that around the spokane area there is a lot of private lands. right know im just going trhough my topographical maps and looking at different watering holes that are near the open areas on the map so when the snow melts off ill go up and check out those areas around the bethal ridge/rimrock and see what i can scrounge up for a back up plan.

You should check the GoHunt portion of WDFW website. It's a GIS program that will show all the public land, GMU's, harvest stats,.... and overlay layers on a map of the state. There's LOTS of public land all around the state, to be successful you'll have to work pretty hard, but the animals are around.

gohunt hunh, never seen that on the wdfw website. gotta look at it now haha thanks! ya bethal/rimrock is very close and im usually on that side of the pass's more often than chinook so when im usually fishing i should scout around too at the same time. i was looking at my topographical maps the other night at redrobin while my mom was eating dinner and i was getting bombed. i did find some possible areas for a "food" supply but yet also a water holes too, so im gonna check em out when the snow melts.
