Has anyone had success in the Holy Cross Wilderness during archery elk season? If not What wilderness areas would you recommend(for seeing elk and having a reasonable chance at) for a pack in bivouac hunt for archery season elk?
I trust your advice, you were on the money about the Comanche peaks (GMU 19). I crossed the peaks wilderness last season a few times and saw 2 bulls and no cows. It was hard hiking and hunting due to dead-fall. I did see 2 bull moose at 20 yards. but not what I was hunting. My dad and brother are coming from out of state, and I would like to make the trip worth the time and expense. Killing is one thing but just to have the opportunity to draw my bow back would be nice.
We all take every precaution when we are hunting and harvesting our animal. Well, what about after the animal is down? Do we know what has happened to that animal over it's lifetime? The following is an example of why we should be careful when we cut.
