Has anyone had success in the Holy Cross Wilderness during archery elk season? If not What wilderness areas would you recommend(for seeing elk and having a reasonable chance at) for a pack in bivouac hunt for archery season elk?
I trust your advice, you were on the money about the Comanche peaks (GMU 19). I crossed the peaks wilderness last season a few times and saw 2 bulls and no cows. It was hard hiking and hunting due to dead-fall. I did see 2 bull moose at 20 yards. but not what I was hunting. My dad and brother are coming from out of state, and I would like to make the trip worth the time and expense. Killing is one thing but just to have the opportunity to draw my bow back would be nice.
For most on here there is a dream trip floating up around in their heads but there is a question of how to pay for it. This has been a problem for all hunters that wish for that elusive moose, bear, goat, sheep, elk, deer, or any other hunt where you are required to hire a guide or you choose to hire one for that hunt of a lifetime.
First off I am not a financial planner I am just a hunter that learned a long time ago that even with a great job there are going to be some...
