My dad, grandfather, and I all drew tags to hunt the "Gila Monsters" this September.  We have the third week of archery (Sept. 19-24) in unit 16B.  We have booked our trip with Gary Webb Outfitters and could not be more excited.  This will be my first trip to New Mexico and first time hunting elk.  I am from southwest Ohio and grew up chasing the monster whitetails the midwest has to offer.  My dad and grandfather have hunted several times out west, primarily in Colorado.  They successfully tag teamed a 4x3 several years ago but it has been a few years since they have hunted elk and will be their first trip to New Mexico as well. 

We will be packing in on horses into the Gila and would love to hear any feedback from hunters who have had the opportunity to hunt 16B or neighboring units.  If anyone has hunted with Gary and his crew we would love to hear your story!  The hunt is months away but the excitement has already started after we drew tags a couple days ago.  If you would just like to post advice or tell your story feel free.
