Ghost Ring Handgun Sights

Has anyone tried ghost ring sights on a handgun? I just noticed them in Brownells today and I am pretty curious.

What kind of handgun you wanting to have one on?

One Ragged Hole makes them for Rugers and BFR's

I made my own for my 629.

I read the previous post by JB Erdmann and was intrieged enough to order a set from ONE RAGGED HOLE. They came the other day and were very east to install. I really like this system!!!! My old eyes find the front sight easly and quickly and accuracy is great. I have a Fire Sight front sight on the Ruger GP100 and a regular black post on the Single Six. The fire sight is much faster for me and I will install one on the Single Six, as well.

I'm just curious('cause I don't know)...Why do they call these "ghost rings"? To me, it's just a peep-sight....I recently bought a Hi-Point 45, and it came with a ghost-ring sight that can be installed, if need be, but without having illuminated sights, would you really be better off? I'd be in business if I had tru-glo sights.

The idea, as with peeps, is faster target acquisition in combat ,self defense or hunting situations

Thanks, Romey. Since, in my opinion, most crimes probably happen during darkness, would it be more difficult to target a criminal with the ring? But, then again, if it was dark, you would have to rely on instinct instead of sights.....I guess one kind is about as good as the other...........but I dunno......

Well tacticaly even "night sights" have to be used in conjunction with a flashlight or some source of light. So long as you can see your front sight which XS does make a front sight for low light conditions to go with the ghost ring, i dont think they mke the ring as such but in my opinion they should.

The ghost ring sight for the 629 looks very good. Any tips on making one myself?
