That is indead a nice buck and I would guess that he would go 215-220. I have only seen a couple of deer that I would say were 40"+ and one of them was on the top of the Book Cliffs that you can see from Fruita during the Utah archery hunt. The funny thing was that the deer was standing 50' away from a trailer while the hunters were off looking for one. We saw the hunters the next day and they didn't believe us until we showed them the video.
WOW - That sure does get the hunting blood pumping!!! That is a granddaddy and I would guess right around 220 as well. That sure is a great story I'm certain that is told over and over. Thanks for the re-energizing picture!
Hunting is not usually a pursuit where instant gratification abounds. It takes a lot of time, practice, resources and patience to be a successful hunter. So when someone decides that an area they hunted only once without taking an animal is worthless and devoid of game, I don't quite understand it. These people usually jump from game management unit to game management unit; trying a new one every year.
Now don't get me wrong, there are people that just enjoy scouting and hunting...
