That is indead a nice buck and I would guess that he would go 215-220. I have only seen a couple of deer that I would say were 40"+ and one of them was on the top of the Book Cliffs that you can see from Fruita during the Utah archery hunt. The funny thing was that the deer was standing 50' away from a trailer while the hunters were off looking for one. We saw the hunters the next day and they didn't believe us until we showed them the video.
WOW - That sure does get the hunting blood pumping!!! That is a granddaddy and I would guess right around 220 as well. That sure is a great story I'm certain that is told over and over. Thanks for the re-energizing picture!
Jim Zumbo, Craig Boddington, Ron Spomer and Wayne Van Zwoll are all solid contributers to the modern hunting literature. Through their gifts (both hunting and writing) they make us better hunters. Whether it is letting us learn from their mistakes or by teaching us new techniques, they help us harvest more game. But I suggest looking to the oldies, the fathers of the outdoor writing craft, to learn tricks that you might have not used.
I chose to shoot the 270 winchester because I grew up...
