Georgia Muzzle Stuffer Opener

Got a couple hours in the woods this past saturday for the opening of the ML season here in Georgia.

Set up on a hill of planted pines next to a couple hundred acres of waist high sorghum. About 7:20 I had a grey fox pass me and head off to my left. About 10 minutes later I decided to have a smoke before heading down the hill to a stand I placed overwatching a bedding area. right after I lit up sitting against an oak tree a squirrel to my right started going nuts. I looked up at him and realized he was looking down wind of me and I looked that way also. Standing there looking me dead in the eye from about 35 yards was what appeared to be a cow horn with brow tines. after a 5 minute staredown he let me put my cig out and then he moved to my left giving me a sweet shot on his neck. Never make sudden movements or strange sounds and I think that they don't mind the human scent as much. Turns out to be a 8pt

I bow hunt with my girlfriend and we really enjoy it. We have shot 3 skinheads but no bucks yet.

Took another doe yesterday and took this doe this morning slipping back to the truck through some really thick stuff. She was ten feet in front of me when I finally had a clear shot.

That looks like a winchester apex, mine is stainless. I have heard not to use more than two pellets of 777 or pyrodex regardless of mfr. statements, that they are unsafe. What do you load in yours. I use a 240 grain sabot with 2 50gr. pellets. Good enough I guess, I found this out after purchasing it.

I shot my first muzzle buck on the Florida side of the St. Mary's river on the Saturday opener. Small deer, but a great hunt in the river bottom. How far are you from the border?

mine is rated to 150 grains of black powder. as to not shooting more than that due to safety, I've not heard of that. If that were the case then every cva optima and apex would have to be recalled as they are one in the same barrel package.

I'm about an hour north of Jacksonville.

Google Winchester Apex, you will get many articles about how these guns are foreign built and simply imported to BPI/Traditions/CVA and never been tested by anyone. These brands have failed with three pellet loads. I own one, but now use 2 pellets only. Try this link. Do what you want, its your gun.....I am just throwing the info out there.

Mabe you might re-post same link in Muzzleloader Section so that more polks might see it.
