Game processors in Craig, CO area?

Kinda last minute I know as I head up Friday, but here goes.

I have a 1st season elk tag and a second season deer tag and was not planing on heading home, but then I got to thinking? If I shoot an elk(please) opening day or early in the season I would have to keep it at camp for around 7 days give or take. I know the temps are not suppose to be to hugh but I hate to see meat go to waste.

So I got to thinking if there was a games processor in the craig area that would store my elk quaters for me....I do my own processing...just want them to keep it cool for me??

Any ideas.....might be cheaper to do that than drive all the way home???

Thanks, Marty

I would send a pm to cowgal since she lives in Craig just in case she doesn't see this thread.

Marty, my first recommendation would be Brothers Custom Processing. Great guys, give them a call at 970-824-3855. Ask for Bob or Dave Satterwhite, they're the 2 brothers that own the business.

If they don't have the space to store your elk, try Mountain Meat Packing at 970-824-4878.

The meat processors do get busy and filled up this time of year, so do call before you head out. Or if you prefer, I can give them a call tomorrow. I know them all and do business with them.

Yeah if you would not mind seeing which ones might be able to store an elk for 5 days or so and what it might run me??

that would be awesome!!

Marty, I talked to Bob at Brothers and he said they would help you if they have room in their cooler. He believes they will have room, but you never know how many people will bring in animals for processing. Cost he said would be about $100 for the 5 days. If you have time, give him a call when you get into Craig, or better yet, go stop by and talk to them. They're great guys! They have a great selection of all types of meats, seafood, chicken and even lunchmeats, jerky, sausages, meat sticks, etc. I buy from them at least once per week, they really do have good stuff. Thumbs up

Just another praise for both the processors mentioned in Craig..
I have used both of them as well while on hunts up there... they went out of their
way to help me out including packaging up for my dad for his drive back to CA.

Both businesses are top notch.

M
