The fun can start

I had a suprise wating in the office this morning, the 7mm-08 bergara barrel I had ordered 4 weeks ago came in on friday and I had taken off so I didnt get it till today.

Now all I need is a fore end, scope and 140gr bullets and go have some fun.

I got this setup for the wife but I need to try it out first. Dancing

Very nice!

Put up a photo or 2 when you find the other items you need, and get it all put together.

I take it the wife is a big huntress, or does she just like to shoot?

It's always exciting when the new stuff shows up. You didn't say but I am assuming this barrel is for an Encore or Prohunter?

I had not heard of Bergara  barrels before but a quick search of the website is interesting. Not too much more expensive than factory with some different options. Please give an accuracy report when you get it running as I have an Encore frame also but no rifle barrels at this time only a 22-250 handgun.

Also try not to get too carried away and forget that it's your wife's gun and not yours, could cause you some problems if you do. lol

This setup is one I got for

This setup is one I got for the wife so she will have something to shoot when she draws an oryx tag. She dosnt reayl care to shoot or hunt although she will go out with me if I have a place to do some road hunting or short walks.

I had an Encore in a 50 cal bp, so I took the opertunity to expand on it by going with the 7mm-08 barrel, had read some good revewes on the cal and the barrel. I realy wonted a 25-06 but I thought it to be a little light for the Oryx in my openion.

I have to go to Albiquerque wednesday on business so I will check out some of the spots to get the rest of what I need to get set up so it will be ready when turkey season comes next month, and Ill take it along  to try it out on some pigs up in the Sacramentos.

Congrats on the new purchase.

Congrats on the new purchase. Are you matching it up on the Thomson Center? Just wondering.

That 7mm-08 is a nice

That 7mm-08 is a nice caliber. I have never fired one, but have a couple of friends who have had them. The .308 itself is a relatively moderate recoiling caliber, and by necking it down to 7mm I have heard that it tames the recoil even more. With those 140 grain bullets, you will have a very nice gun for your Oryx, I believe.

On the Bergara barrels - again, I haven't had one myself, but have heard and read many good things about them. Sounds like a nice set-up for you.

Good luck on your hunt. Be sure to post a story and some pictures.Thumbs up

I got it all togather

I got it all togather yesterday except for the forend, couldnt find one in Albuquerque so i will need to order one. After I got the barrel on the action and the weaver scope mounted I just couldnt stand it so I took it out and shot it. Very happy so far we had about a 25 mph wind so I set up with the wind at my back and and started shooting. This is a very easy shooting gun and even in the wind I was shooting right a 1" groups if the wind didnt blow me as I shot.

I think once I get a load worked up and the scope dialed in I will be very pleased with this setup and I expect it to be able to make 400 yard shots, that is because 400 is my limet.
