FYI, these little carbines are chambered in 7.62x39 which has ballistics similar to (slightly better than) the venerable 30-30. The semi automatic action soaks up a substantial portion of the already mild recoil and so I think these are great for young hunters and small shooters (read wives). I've taken four white tail deer with clean one shot kills with these little gems. They are definitely well suited for deer and hogs at moderate ranges up to +/- 100 yards.
