fractured rib.

I slipped flyfishing/wading a week ago saturday. I flailed around before landing on a jagged rock just beneath the surface of the water. Man, that hurt. The next morning I had a bruise about he size of my fist that turned all the colors of the rainbow and now is about gone, but it still hurts to breath deep, bend, twist, lift, and such. So I went to the Dr. today. Fractured rib, fortunately nothing's out of place. Should get better in 4-6 weeks. It's annoying because I want to keep working out, but that's just aggravating the inflamation around it, so I'm having to lay off or modify my workouts. It's going to make getting into shape for elk season a little harder this summer, I anticipate. Oh well, at least it's still months away. frown

I feel your pain. Try to avoid catching a cold. Nothing worse than knowing you have to cough and it will hurt like ol heck.

it's funny you say that. It REALLY hurts to sneeze. It also hurts to laugh, but oddly, coughing isn't that bad. It's my lowest rib on the left side, maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway, I dont' know why I even posted this, just looking for a little sympathy, I suppose. Cry baby

That is a terrible accident you had and I am truely glad that you were not more seriously injured! Now looking ahead to elk season, a repeat of this accident would put you out of the game totaly. So your best bet in this situation is to give up fly fishing altogether. Way to dangerous of a sport for the "serious" hunter. Still giving up such an addiction as fly fishing can be a difficult task too be sure.
A sure fire way to kick the habit. Get rid of ALL your fly fishing gear, don't keep a single leader or fly (sentiment is your enemy here). Being a friend I am here to help you through this argious task. I will PM you my home address and you can ship it all to me. I, with a stiff upper lip will make sure none of the gear gets back to you at all. No matter how much you beg and plead.
Remember you must be strong in these trying times.

I think we're all losing sight of the big picture here...did you land the fish?

Seriously -- hope you're feeling better and heal quick.
