First time for elk. This should be quite the learning experience

Hey guys, first year hunter here and I'm looking to make this a successful hunting experience. I've lived in CO my whole life and I'm just now getting into the big game. Been a few seasons deep in the upland and some waterfowl and decided to go for the big game.

A buddy and I are going up to 211/11 for fourth season and I have an either sex tag. He has a female tag and were focusing our efforts on 211 due to higher success numbers. I'm not looking for a massive trophy elk but would like to have an enjoyable hunt. I've done a good amount of research from the DOW maps and GMU tip sheets, google earth, and searching on here. We're planning on going up around the Kourlis Ranch area but am having minimal results as I look into that area. I have a call into the DOW officer in that area but haven't heard back yet.

Any info on that ranch? or really that area in general. I have a few spots picked out so I've done a fair amount of research. Just looking for some guidance now.

Consider the Danforth Hills

Sherriff Ridge kills a few elk off the Danforth Hills, but expect to have a hard time with the difficult landownership patterns in the area.
