First Shed Hunt

I went on my first shed hunt this weekend and surprisingly had a bit of success. I had my girlfriend put in for a deer tag in this unit, so we went to get the lay of the land and look for sheds. Weather was much colder than we had anticipated, so we were only able to hike around for about 2 hours. The snow was also deeper than expected so we could only search the clear areas. I hope to go back in a couple of weeks and do some more searching. We saw a lot of droppings, but no tracks through the snow. We were around 9500 in elevation, I'm guessing that's a bit higher than we should be searching correct? Here's a picture of my girlfriend with the matching sheds.

Addicting

Congrats!!! It is all weather or where the snow line is if your not hunting for them in the high desert regions. There is so many variables, but hey you got into them so you must be on the right track!!

Thanks for the comments guys,

Thanks for the comments guys, I was excited to find them. I didn't know the elevation was that high until we got there and I turned on the GPS, or else we probably would have started lower. Glad we didn't! I told my girlfriend we'd be chasing this deer in the fall. Not huge by any means, but a good deer none the less!

Antler

Are you headed out again? I may try Sunday, but in some honeyhole ground out East where the walkin will be easier and the horns should be plenty. Hopefully can get the landowner to bring out the ranger again. LOL!!!!

I need to find a landowner

I need to find a landowner like that ha! I have a buddy that lives in Kansas and has been posting pictures of BIG whitetail sheds, makes me jealous.

I plan on going out again, but am going to wait for some of the snow to melt and the temps to go up a bit. Post some pictures of your finds this weekend!
