first season rifle help

I hunted second season 2 years ago when it was wet and when it dumped a bunch of snow that week, at least it was a bunch for an Ohioian.  We are going again here in a couple weeks for first season rifle.  Looking for advice on hunting strategies.  We are in unit 66 with cow tag.  Thanks

The hunting strategies for

The hunting strategies for the first season will be no different than second or even third season. Find where they are feeding, beding, and watering and you will find elk. It is that simple if you want to put it that wayl, I know that nothing is simple in elk hunting.

There is a small stream that runs the length of the valley and the Big Blue at the end.  From aerial photos there is a pond above the aspens and by the pines.  I wanted to get there a couple years ago but didnt want to get lost.  Taking topos this time.  I am really excited to hear them bugle, never heard it before except on tv and I am assuming and hoping its a 1000x better.
