Welcome!
Well, good to talk to someone who hunts in God's country/county.
I'm almost afraid to ask because I know a few Cape Bretoners who have been known to frequent the area.
I havn't hunted your area but I was with a guy one time in Wreck Cove when a moose decided to take on a one ton Ford with plow gear.
Where abouts in Pictou County does ya hunt By ?

Hey - Another Bluenoser. I lived 12yrs in Halifax before getting posted to Ottawa. I'm supposed to be getting posted back there this summer. We still own a hunt camp/cottage near Upper Musquodoboit. Lots of bunnies, partridge and even the odd deer. 'Look forward to hearing more from ya!
Saskie:
I did some hunting this year in the Brookfield area and there was a very good deer concentration(about 5 miles the New Glasgow side on the 289) and not many hunters at all) but in other areas on the 289(Landsdown for example) they are few and far between.
Good to see another Nova Scotian on the boards. I know you will enjoy your stay.
Thanks for the welcome guys. You're right Hammer, there is some great hunting country in pictou county. I have been going up to my brother inlaws camp for the first week of the season for about 10 yrs with some pretty good sucess. I have hunted brookfield but i kind of stick to about 5 miles up the sunrise trail and over toward river john. Its a little hard to explain. Brother in laws name is Eric Campbell and he works at michelin. Have to take a break, my finger is getting tired.
Mostly I hunt in Loganville(between Mt Thom & Scotsburn) or to be more specific, four cigarettes or 29 minutes away from the River John Liquor Store.

Our camp is almost in between Dean and Trafalgar on the St Mary's Rd. There's a small but stable deer population - I keep scouting and finding promising spots and then they come in and log them on me...I just found another good spot - a travel corridor probably connecting a couple bedding areas (still not too sure on that though - but it's a definite travel route for several deer including bucks). I got all excited, found a couple stand locations for different winds...on my way out I noticed the flagging tape meaning it's going to be logged soon.
Here we go again
