Discovered their merino wools hunting base layers last spring. I don't often wear a lot of wool clothing when hunting, but did find that their Brimmed Beanie Hat and Wind River Balaclava really fit the bill for a warm combination headwear on last biggame 2nd rifle season and the later colder weather upland bird hunts and waterfowl hunts. I found them to be smooth, itch free, very low profile, light weight, and warm. They keep the ears warm without obstructing your hearing. The balaclava is what I'd call lighter weight wool but it layers very well under a good heavier hat like their brimmed beanie or any other winter hat.
They offer a few varieties of camo patters, but I like their solid color Dry Earth, a color I would described as a darker khaki color with a slight olive drab tint, very similar to the current USMC Coyote Brown or vintage WWI era olive drab. To me, colors like that blend into just about any type of background, terrain, and vegitation. Pretty convenient to wear too. They offer top and bottom base layers, mid layers, vests, shirts, socks, etc. Seems like good stuff. The company is called First Lite and located in Idaho. Check them out.
