First hog with a bow...

Just got back from the last day of my publc land quota archery hunt. Saw hogs everyday and missed a few big ones. Had a pack of little guys run up on me on the last afternoon of the hunt. Decided to put some meat on the table lol... I hit this one and the arrow passed threw and hit another one in the side. The first one dropped dead on the spot and I had to trail the other into a deep palmetto swamp. Needless to say I never found the second hog...

Not bad for a last minute kill lol... Gonna put the whole thing on the smoker next weekend should be good eats...

Very nice!!!  That's a perfect size to throw on the grill or in the smoker!  Definately going to be some good eating.Sorry to hear about the other hog though.  Culd you tell how deply it got hit?  Think it's definately dead?  Sad to see it waste, but you gave it a good effort.

Congrats!  I still have yet to kill a hog, or anything at all with a bow, but hopefully both of those will change this year.

yeah the other pig was hit

yeah the other pig was hit hard. the arrow passed threw and hit the other one in the side behind the shoulder. the arrow was about 3 inches in past the broadhead and it blead really good for about 100 yards. after that I lost the trail but it was in neck high palmetto's and I couldn't see very good. In one spot he laid down and started to bleed out but ran off... He was probably just laid up in the thick stuff. I went back after a few hours and made another circle but never found it. I did find another arrow from somone else that had blood on it so I'm guessing they shot a pig there before.

It was a good time and I can't wait to get back out. Sucks about the other pig but that place is FULL of them. My buddy saw to boar hogs together fighting that were over 300 lbs. I think he was scared to shoot them with his bow while he was on the ground. Whistling

Okay, I hear ya.  I spent 5

Okay, I hear ya.  I spent 5 months down in South carolina in the late 90's, and played around in those palmettos.  Those things are so thick, and low to the ground, I can understand losing a small piggy like that.  Unfortunate, but it happens sometimes!  Congrats again on the fine eating pig!!!!

Congratulations on your first

Congratulations on your first archery hog. I have killed several that size and although I'm always looking for the big ones it is without a doubt that these are the one to get for the best eating.

Congratulations again and hopefully you get to knock a few more down in the near future. I'll have a chance at some myself in about 3 more weeks in north Texas. Not sure how good the area is but it should be fun.

Congratulations on the hog

Congratulations on the hog with the bow. Hope you can get out and bust a few more. I understand the hogs are out of control in several areas in Florida. Have not had the wild hog but from what I hear the smaller ones are better eating. Good luck on getting a few more.

Thanks guys, I'm going on a

Thanks guys, I'm going on a hog hunt with my dad this week some time in south florida. He's flying in from Colorado today and wants to get his first hog. I'm gonna try to get some pics and maybe video the hunt if possible weather permitting.

I'll probably be using my shotgun this time around. Whistling
